Japan Educational Exchange and Service (JEES)
Outline
In Japan, a guarantor is usually required before you move into a private apartment.
JEES offers "Comprehensive Renter's Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan" of which policy is to help foreign students to secure a guarantor and also help guantor itself by easing the burdens.
Insurance System
This is a combined system with Guarantor's Legal Liability, Liability Insurance and Insurance for a physical impediment resulting from an injury. Examples of coverage are; paying expenses on behalf of an insured student as a result of the student becoming unable to pay a rent or becoming necessary to repair the rented accomodation to their original conditions.
Guarantor
Toyohashi University of Technology can be a guarantor for international students entering a private apartment.
Insurance Fee
4,000 yen for 1 year insurance. 8,000 yen for 2 years insurance. For detailed procedures, ask International Affairs Division staff.
