International University Exchange Seminar
- Globalization and the Role of the Engineers -

Background

Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT) has been organizing international exchange activities since the foundation of the university through ODA projects in ASEAN countries.

TUT has also conducted student exchange programs with students from universities in Indonesia since 2003.

This student exchange program provides students with opportunities to expose them to an international academic atmosphere as well as helping them to learn English communication skills and the role of engineers.

Objective of the Programme

This year’s program offered a number of activities including lectures, an industrial visit, a homestay experience and other cultural activities.

The International University Exchange Seminar 2010 was hosted by Toyohashi University of Technology and invited students and academics from Indonesia.

This year’s program focused on the theme: Globalization and the Role of the Engineers.

Therefore, participants engaged in a multicultural dialogue that facilitated the exchange of ideas about globalization and the role of science and technology.

The diversity of the participants also facilitated the discussion of social and cultural factors in these socio-technical areas.
